About the Role


Deloitte’s dedicated Health Advisory team in Queensland within our Commercial Advisory practice supports clients across the healthcare sector to plan and deliver sustainable, high quality and safe services to their patients.

We provide a full range of health service planning, financial and operational performance, funding and financing and business case development services. We are uniquely placed in the market being the only firm with a dedicated health sector focus and integration across a broad range of capabilities - and deliver value to our clients through our expertise in the health sector, our evidence-based approach, and our strong capability in clinical engagement.

We are seeking intelligent professionals who want to make an impact that matters, and have roles at the Analyst and Senior Analyst level, where your role will include:

  • Applying a variety of analytical frameworks, modelling and analytical techniques - including financial data analysis, health service planning, financial and commercial advice for infrastructure and service developments, financial and operational performance analysis, funding model analysis, policy analysis, and hospital financial performance and budget reviews
  • Analysing financial and operational performance data of hospitals and other health service providers to diagnose performance issues and develop performance improvement strategies
  • Developing service delivery plans for hospital and primary care services through consultation and data analysis to understand health needs within a region
  • Working on the ground at hospital sites to support the planning and opening of new clinical services and facilities
  • Modelling the financial and operational impacts of new models of service delivery, new service developments, infrastructure and investment projects and changes to funding models
  • Undertaking research to inform the development of best-practice operating models and strategic policy advice
  • Drafting and communicating findings in reports, business cases and compelling presentations to influence key decision makers in government, commercial organisations and the not-for-profit sector
  • Advancing your skills in and experience in health and human services alongside some of the best practitioners in Australia.


Your clients will include government departments, hospital and health service providers, human service providers, non-profit organisations, primary health care providers, funders of programs and services for health, aged, disability, child protection, social housing and other sectors, infrastructure development agencies, central agencies; and clients across Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific.

About You

You will be a motivated, energetic individual with a passion to make an impact on the health and social services sector in Australia. Specifically, you will have:

  • For Analysts, approximately 12 months’ experience in the health sector or a related area (including other public services), financial and/or commercial analysis, and/or social infrastructure projects, preferably in an Australian context;
  • For Senior Analysts, approximately 2-4 years’ experience in the health and social services sector, or a related area (including other public services), financial and/or commercial analysis, and/or social infrastructure projects, preferably in an Australian context;
  • Strong academic results in health related discipline, and/or economics, finance, commerce, statistics and mathematics, infrastructure-related disciplines;
  • Previous experience in other consulting firms, the university sector or health industry would be an advantage;
  • Previous experience or a demonstrated understanding and interest in the Australian health system, social policy or social service delivery including community services and justice;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills - including an interest in undertaking consultation with stakeholders including clinicians
  • Solid quantitative skills in basic statistics and mathematics - and an interest in deepening your analytical capability
  • An understand and/or experience of good project management
  • Pragmatism - including the ability to independently understand and solve issues within the constraints of time, information availability, and to work effectively within a team
  • Most importantly, you must have a desire to learn and work with a team of like-minded experts.
