A large NSW Government Agency is seeing to engage a Project Manager to lead the development, implementation and change management associated with the development of a new training pathway for doctors in post graduate years 3-6 that are not on a dedicated vocational training program

Key Accountabilities:
  • Manage the  scoping, planning and reporting on the various aspects of strategic state-wide projects /programs of significant complexity to ensure successful delivery of program outcomes identified in the Departments Strategic Plan    
  • Responsible for the management of assigned projects and programs and ensuring completion within required time frames, quality standards and at, or below budget
  • Establish and manage complex relationships and engage with key internal and external stakeholders, at both state and national level to ensure program outcomes are achieved
  • Provide high level analysis, interpretation and advice to Manager and various stakeholders to promote and ensure compliance with best practice in training and capability development
  • Identify and progress opportunities to customise solutions to better meet specific needs of stakeholders
  • Address complex issues and develop innovative solutions, analyse alternatives and developing risk mitigation strategies
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of state-wide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in respect to program/project evaluation to ensure achievement of the Departments Strategic Plan
  • Undertake and incorporate best practice research into effective operation of the relevant project/program area as appropriate to facilitate the development of medical training programs to further embed the departments role in education and training across NSW
  • Actively participate and provide appropriate support to the advisory committees/councils to incorporate sector wide consultation that positively impacts the achievement of program objectives.
  • Responsible for preparing reports, correspondence, briefings and responses to parliamentary questions relating to health education and training in NSW as well as ensuring the secretariat functions for the advisory committees and meets are managed
  • Prepare complex reports on the status of projects and programs ensuring compliance with reporting methodologies, deadlines and timelines
  • Provide expert advice  to the Manager and the Medical Director on all aspects of program and project development, implementation, evaluation and reporting
  • Champion and lead the team to support management with organisational and change management functions to ensure that systems and work practices facilitate the analysis and timely reporting of program objectives
  • Set priorities, review the performance, develop and coach direct reports to build a cohesive and high performing team

Essential Requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health or Education or Business Management or equivalent, and extensive, relevant professional experience
  • A medical education background is highly desirable, however some awareness/exposure to educational theory, either through university or training and educational background will be beneficial
  • Demonstrated high level communication and consultation skills in a complex environment with the ability to effectively manage and influence with stakeholders at a local and state level
  • Extensive project management experience with high level program and project management skills encompassing all phases from design to evaluation
  • Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to accurately interpret complex information and to effectively and efficiently convey findings for a range of audiences
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of educational program
  • Capacity to engender enthusiasm, work collaboratively and effectively with executive, managers, other team members and other portfolios within the organisation, in addition to stakeholders across various partner areas such as hospitals and education institutions
