About the role


Deloitte Access Economics is Australia's largest team of private sector economists. We offer an array of macroeconomic and microeconomic advisory services, including forecasting, economic modelling, policy design and review, and strategic consulting.

As part of the ongoing growth and success of our business, an opportunity has arisen for a Manager to join our Health Economics and Social Policy practice in Sydney. You will lead and deliver program and policy evaluations including social impact assessments across a large range of social policy sectors including Education, Housing and Homelessness, Disability/NDIS, Family and Youth, Indigenous, Environment and Health.

You will be challenged on:

  • Development of evaluation frameworks and strategies
  • Development and use of program logic models, literature reviews, research questions for lines of enquiry & performance indicators
  • Undertaking quantitative data analysis such as the use of experimental and quasi-experimental approaches, meta-analysis, statistical and modelling techniques (e.g. regression, Markov, probabilistic sensitivity, random/fixed effects, etc.)
  • Undertaking qualitative data analysis (e.g. interviews, focus groups, workshops) with thematic analysis, Delphi and other interpretive techniques
  • Effectively working with and influencing a diverse client portfolio, including State and Federal Departments in the area of health and social policy and not for profits
  • Managing a team of Analysts and Senior Analysts to support the delivery of engagements and play a key role in their development


Your clients will include government departments; non-profit organisations; pharmaceutical and medical devices companies; funders of programs and services for health, aged, disability, child protection, social housing and other sectors; and other services providers in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, North and South America.

About You

You will ideally have 6+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas Education, Housing and Homelessness, Disability/NDIS, Family and Youth, Indigenous, Environment or Health as a consultant/ advisor to the public sector. Your skills will encompass:

  • A degree in economics, evaluation, public policy or other social science, with strong academic results
  • Applied knowledge of mixed method approaches to synthesise different types of data, including developing and using quantitative analytical frameworks using economic principles
  • Working knowledge of the Australia health and human services sector (including data sets is desirable)
  • Persuasive communication and report writing
  • Managing projects and teams effectively, as well as engaging with stakeholders
  • Recent experience in a central government agency or consultancy is desirable
