Based in the heart of Perth, working closely with key industry sectors, academic institutions and creative arts sectors, the City ensures it is mindful of the diverse needs of each group. They now have an exciting opportunity for a DCC Project Lead for an immediate start for a 12 month contract with a possible extension.

The main objection of this role is to lead the technical and capital delivery of major project undertakings within the Directorate of Community and Commercial Services.  The role will be directly responsible for project management and delivery of specific projects and the oversight of the Directorates Capital Programme

Your main responsibilities will include but not limited to; 

• Ensuring projects are conducted according to the City’s methodology, policies and procedures.
• Ensuring projects and the resultant systems are well documented in readiness for production handover.
• Formulating and defining technical scope and objectives of projects.
• Monitoring project activities, ensuring the currency, quality, and integrity of the information.
• Identifying and scheduling project deliverables, milestones and required tasks.
• Ensuring that projects are conducted considerate of risk, with effective quality assurances and controls.
• Creating and reviewing status reports prepared by project personnel, mentor officers and modify schedules or plans as required.
• Reporting and documenting projects using the City’s established standards and procedures.
• Undertaking appropriate procurement processes in line with the City of Perth procedure.
• Establishing and managing vendor and supplier relationships and contracts for project delivery.
• Ensuring that documentation, plans and progress reports are accurate and up to date and create updates and exception reports as necessary.
• Formalising the transition plans, including how the project will be supported and how organisational change impacts will be managed.
• Overseeing user acceptance and live deployment, ensuring quality of solution meets expectations.
• Applying experience, education and knowledge of technical and IT based projects within the context of Capital Project delivery.
• Providing project and budget updates and input into project reporting systems.
• Providing Project management, planning of successful outcomes and evaluating performance and results.

To be successful, you must have the following;

• Proven experience in the delivery of complex technical (IT based) and Infrastructure Capital Projects (from conception to completion).
• Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively negotiate and communicate specific issues (both internally and externally) where there are competing agendas and priorities.
• Proven organisational skills and ability to manage competing time demands for multiple projects within budget constraints (phasing and budget allocation).
• Proven experience in considering project risk and safety in planning and delivery.
• Proven experience in leading a programme of capital works while mentoring and enhancing the project management capacity within a team.
• Highly developed ability to work within and across various IT based products for both operational and capital requirements
• Project Management Qualification (e.g. Prince 2, PMBoK, Agile, etc.)
• Qualified in Electrical Engineering or Computer Systems
