The Role:
The Umbilical Engineer supports the SURF Package Lead and is responsible for delivery of the subsea umbilicals through design, procurement, manufacture and testing, ensuring engineering deliverables and the delivered product meets Company and project requirements. They will also provide support during transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of the supplied umbilical's.

Key Accountabilities

• Manage interfaces between the umbilicals and subsea engineering, subsea production, riser and FPSO turret mooring systems
• Develop project specifications for the umbilical supply incorporating FEED engineering outcomes, industry standards, best practice, transportation, installation and operational requirements
• Develop the scope of work and bid submission requirements for the supply of the umbilicals
• Assist in the evaluation and award of the umbilical supply work scope, including interfacing with stakeholders to reach the optimum project decision
• Manage the delivery of the umbilicals from the supplier ensuring schedule, safety, quality and technical integrity are maintained throughout the process

Key Responsibilities
• Review umbilical related deliverables from the subsea FEED contractor and applicable engineering deliverable from the subsea production system and FPSO turret mooring contractors
• Ensure interfaces between the umbilical system and the subsea production system and FPSO are addressed in an efficient and effective manner
• Contribute to umbilical system ITT preparation, evaluation and supplier selection, including manufacturing plant auditing
• Day to day coordination of the umbilical system supplier design, manufacturing, testing and delivery activities
• Ensure safe execution of the work by the umbilical system supplier and delivery within the agreed schedule and budget whilst maintaining quality and technical integrity throughout
• Achieve the required level of verification and assurance of the umbilical system to meet project requirements
• Provide support to transportation and installation of the umbilical system by the SURF T & I contractor
• Work collaboratively, positively and effectively as part of a multi-discipline subsea team to deliver a successful project outcome
• Monitor and report scope, schedule, cost and risk trends throughout the project

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in a directly relevant technical discipline from an accredited University or equivalent technical qualification
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the performance analysis, specification, design and manufacture of umbilical systems
• Requisite understanding and experience with the qualification, design and delivery of umbilical systems from FEED through manufacture, installation and pre-commissioning
• In depth knowledge of thermoplastic hose, steel tube, electrical and fibre optic cable material selection, umbilical lay up techniques and fatigue analysis / performance in dynamic applications
• Experience with design, testing and integration of a range of ancillary items; including bend stiffeners, bend restrictors, clamps, buoyancy modules, etc.
• Understanding of current industry best practice of umbilical integrity management requirements, including cable water and gas blocking techniques
