About the role:
We are currently seeking a Director Safety & Health, to join our corporate Health, Safety & Environment team based in Brisbane.
Reporting to the VP Health Safety and Environment, the scope of your role will be to provide strategic leadership and support to the Peabody Australia platform on all Health & Safety systems and reporting activities. The successful applicant will maintain a proactive Safety leadership presence and drive culture and process enhancements across all Peabody Operations. This role will ensure a high degree of safety systems support, development and governance is maintained across the Peabody Australia platform.
Duties will include:
- Collate, provide governance, analyse and report on the Australian platform’s health and safety performance
- Development of regular corporate reports and presentation materials for the Peabody Safety Leadership Team (PSLT), Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board
- Review the site reporting of health and safety performance and provide coaching and mentoring to drive continuous improvement
- Provide expert safety support and advice to the VP HS&E, site Statutory, GM and safety personnel and other functional team members
- Foster a safety culture underpinned by continuous improvement and ensure key learnings and improvements are replicated and implemented across the platform
- Provide oversight and guidance on incident investigations and subsequent remedial actions
- Assist in driving consistency in Safety culture, performance and reporting across all Peabody operations
The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, working from Brisbane with occasional travel to sites in Queensland and New South Wales.
About you:
- Tertiary qualification in safety and health, or mining related discipline
- MBA or other relevant Masters qualification highly desirable
- Additional mining safety related accreditation favourable
- Significant mine site experience essential
- High level of expertise in safety and health systems, programs and fundamental transactional activities
- Exposure to risk management and safety and health auditing
