The Role

Exciting Opportunities are available for experienced Engineers to work in an Open Pit Mining Operation in Northern Territory. These positions will be FIFO out of Darwin Airport and will be On-going Casual, with guaranteed Full Time hours with a chance to go Permanent with Industry leading company based on performance! 

Mining Engineer (8/6 Roster)

Reporting to the Mining Technical Superintendent you will be have to ensure that you maintain a high level of safety whilst providing visible direction to the operations.  This position will require you to provide engineering and technical support to the Mine Manager, and be accountable for the Daily reporting, collation, analysis and distribution of production data.  You’ll be responsible for developing weekly, monthly and quarterly mining schedules, and preparing drill and blast plans. In addition, you’ll need to routinely track and report results to ensure the compliance schedule.

As a degree qualified Mining Engineering professional, you will have to have open pit mining operations experience. Being proficient and competent in optimising development designs, mine scheduling, drill and blast designs, as well as ability to review geological data (including drill hole assays, wireframes and resource models). Experience in Reconciliation of stope tonne and grade, as well as safety and risk management systems will be highly regarded. You will have comprehension of Mining Safety Legislation and Australian Standards, as you place a high priority on safety whilst you are at work. You will make recommendations based on your technical expertise and have a proven ability to advise and influence high level decisions. 

Geotechnical Engineer (15/13 Roster)

Reporting to the Mining Technical Superintendent your responsibility will include all geotechnical aspects of open pit operations. Working in collaboration with the Mine Technical Services team you’ll be involved with Designs & Assessments, Monitoring, Analysis, Modelling, QA/QC. You will provide design and execution recommendations, review mine designs to ensure compliance with recommendation and review and update site plans and procedures.

The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified and have at least 2 years post graduate experience in an open pit mining operations. You will have to have a proven track record in geotechnical engineering and proficiency with mine planning and geotechnical software. Experience with computer based 3D stress modelling and mine design systems will also be highly desired. In addition, you will also demonstrate safety leadership and a passion for continuous improvement.

Drill & Blast Engineer (15/13 Roster)

Reporting to the Mining Technical Superintendent you will be responsible for all supervision and execution of all Drill & Blast designs and plans, as well as Lateral & Vertical development designs. You will be accountable for the preparation of development approvals for drilling & blasting plans. This position will require you be involved in the Daily Monitoring & Recording of production and development progress, in conjunction with short term scheduling.

As a degree qualified Drill & Blast Engineering professional, you’ll have to have exposure to Open Pit Mining operations to be considered for this role. With a proven track record of managing teams, you will be able to deliver engineering outcomes and a strong desire to succeed in an open cut mining environment. To be successful in this role, you would consider yourself a; highly skilled communicator with the ability to work with a sense of urgency and attention to detail and also be able to develop strong working relationships with your colleagues.
