About the Company

Jiujiang Mining Australia Pty Ltd have been appointed by Cu-River to provide mining and exploration services to their Cairn Hill Operations in the Cooper Pedy region in South Australia.  Jiujiang Mining Australia is the Australian arm of the Jiujiang Group who are based in China and have an employee base of 18,000 people working across multiple industries including construction, ironworks and power generation.

The Cairn Hill mine site is situated 50km south of Coober Pedy and is a magnetite operation. This is a very exciting time to be joining Jiujiang Mining Australia, as we are currently in a growth phase with many new projects underway to support a mine expansion and new infrastructure. The operation has invested heavily into new machinery and equipment and are now looking for suitably skilled and experienced people to join the team.

Responsibility:

 

  • Develop the short - medium-term approvals plan to establish and deliver project deliverables in line with the company’s strategic and tactical business plan;
  • Coordinate environmental assessments, including ecological, air, noise, water, and traffic, working with specialist consultants to deliver project outcomes;
  • Prepare project reports and documentation, including Program for Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation, Mining Lease Proposals, Miscellaneous Purpose Leases and EPBC referrals;
  • Support the Senior Social Responsibility Advisor on any stakeholder consultation activities;
  • Manage project operating and capital budgets;
  • Develop organisational policies, standards and plans to facilitate best practice environmental management and legal compliance across the company;
  • Monitor and provide advice on changes to government legislation, policies and plans;
  • Review internal and external reporting, including the MARCR, NGERS, NPI, and EPBC compliance reports; and
  • Support site personnel regarding non-conformances and investigations and corrective action plans.
  • Experience and Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in Environmental Studies/ Environmental Engineering
  • Previous experience working in a similar position with a mining background (5+ years)
  • Knowledge of SA environmental legislations and environmental approvals
  • Previous experience in ISO14001 management systems and auditing
  • A passion and commitment for safety, environment and risk management
  • Strong written and oral communication skills along with excellent stakeholder management
  • An eye for detail, good organisational skills and strong complex problem solving capabilities
  • Competent user of MS Office suite, experience in the use of environmental/ risk/ safety systems
  • Ability to work in a team and work autonomously with a high level of confidentiality
