The South Flank Project is being executed by a fully Integrated Project Team (IPT), jointly established by BHP and Fluor, consisting of employees from both organisations, as well as other contracting organisations as applicable. The project has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Commissioning Supervisor (PCF – Electrical Process) to work as part of the Integrated Project Team. This will be a site based role on a 15/6 or 20/8 roster, and the opportunity to join an exciting, large scale project in its early stages.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide effective leadership and direction for electrical commissioning personnel to ensure a safe and timely testing of the plant areas.
  • The commissioning electrical team includes superintendent, supervisors, electricians (technicians) from the Owner's and Contractor's organisations, as well as various specialists and vendor representatives.
  • Ensuring that all electrical regulatory bodies, sites, government, safety, health and environmental procedures and standards are followed by Commissioning personnel.
  • Reviewing the electrical elements from final construction through WTG process and attainment of CVC including workmanship, documentation from contractors.
  • Ensuring efficient execution of the commissioning process by guiding the contractors electrical teams in the check-out and testing of systems, and identifying and correcting deficiencies including but not limited to:
    • Tests of electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
    • Inspection, installation, testing and repair of switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors.
    • Inspection, installation, testing and repair of electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
  • Work cooperatively with site Contractors other trades in their assigned tasks
  • Contribute to a safe work environment according to the policies and practices of Health and safety.
  • Coordinate the handover process to the end users.

  • Strong knowledge of commissioning and completions processes in a mining / resources environment.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability  to  form  and  foster  collaborative  relationships  within  the  business  and externally ability to work under pressure.
  • Mobility, fitness and ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to assess working conditions and environment

 

Qualifications / Experience

 

  • Appropriate technical qualifications and experience as described above.
  • More than 5 years' experience of electrical supervision.
  • Experience with pre-commissioning and commissioning of new equipment circuits and plants.
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with electrical works and inspections.
  • Demonstrated competency with office computer software packages.
  • Current W .A. High Voltage electrical ticket.
  • Flexibility to work either a 15/6 or 20/8 roster. (Roster availability is dependent on the role)
