Strategy & Business Development Manager – Brisbane Corporate Office

The role of the Strategy & Business Development Manager is to assist with the development of the Metallurgical Coal Strategy process and to identify, assess, gain support and assist in the implementation of opportunities for mergers and acquisitions growth of metallurgical coal globally through value-based development, investments, acquisitions and divestments.

As an integral part of the Strategy and Business Development function, you will be responsible for the identification, and work as part of teams for the execution and integration of transactions globally which are of strategic interest to Anglo American.

As the Strategy & Business Development Manager you will be accountable for:

• Coordinating and assisting with the development of the annual Metallurgical Coal Strategy development process and leading/participating in various strategic projects;
• Closely cooperating with global teams for the identification, assessment, execution and integration of acquisitions or divestments which align with our Strategy;
• Developing business and investment case proposals including compiling detailed target profiling, determining financial and strategic fit and preparing investment cases;
• Assisting with the development of deal structuring and participating in negotiating transaction terms;
• Managing external providers and the internal approval processes;
• Supporting all execution-related activities.

To be successful in the role, you will hold the appropriate tertiary qualification in a related discipline. A post-graduate qualification (e.g. MBA) will be an advantage. You will have previously held roles at senior level preferably with the mining or natural resources industry and will have demonstrated high levels of cooperation with cross-geographical teams. You will have demonstrated strong leadership skills, high level strategic thinking and an understanding of legal agreements. M&A and/or strategy development experience will be highly regarded.  Your effective interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate with and engage and influence key stakeholders will support you in this role.
