Roy Hill’s independently owned and operated railway is a 344km standard gauge, single line, heavy haul railway built to transport 55Mtpa of iron ore from the Roy Hill Mine to the dedicated Port stockyard facility in Port Hedland. Utilising state-of-the-art train loading systems and the fastest rail car dumpers, the Rail division is a leading example of our innovation and technology investments. We are currently looking to appoint a Maintainer Communications to join our Rail team. This role will be based either at the Roy Hill mine site or at Port Hedland. You will ensure the necessary maintenance processes, procedures and standards are in place for undertaking planned and reactive maintenance activities within the communications team. The role will be key to the success of the Signals and Communications team.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Working with specialised maintenance test equipment such as radio test sets, spectrum analysers, bit error testers and FOC splicing units.
  • Conducting routine maintenance and accurately recording and reporting the results.
  • Monitoring equipment failure rates and change failed component.
  • Undertaking a duty of care for yourself and others always.

‘The Real You’

As the ideal candidate, you have you must have TETRA, Voice and Data, design, System and Maintenance experience. You will have comprehensive experience working as a Communications Maintainer in an operational rail environment, preferably heavy haul. You will also have:

  • Solid knowledge of railway Communications systems including TETRA radio systems.
  • Sound ability using computer programs such as SAP as well as the ability to communicate effectively with the company TETRA radio systems.
  • The ability to read and understand all communications technical manuals, drawings and circuits.
  • An Australian Recognised Communications/Radio Trade Certificate and a WA Restricted Electrical Licence (REL) as a minimum
  • A current WA Class Driver’s Licence.
