The key responsibilities in this role will be to perform all underground geotechnical inspections and mapping, geotechnical input for rehabilitation, short/medium term planning and mine scheduling activities to achieve effective results. You will work as part of a dynamic and innovative team and will have the opportunity to partner with the various functions within the Technical Services and Operations department, as well as working in close proximity with all levels of the operational leadership team to deliver quality output for the mine. To be successful you will demonstrate the Glencore Values, promoting safety practices and procedures when undertaking your scheduled tasks.

A tertiary degree or an equivalent qualification in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or Mining Geo-mechanics along with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an underground metalliferous mine is necessary. Additionally, you will have solid knowledge in ground support justification using empirical and numerical analysis from underground data collection. You will also be able to demonstrate teamwork, strong communication skills, effective problem solving skills, analytical skills and improvement capability.

The successful candidate will have a high level of accuracy in their work and ability to manage time effectively. You will be competent in using software packages and it is desirable that you will have experience in software including Deswick, Surpac, Leapfrog3D and Map3D, as well as the Microsoft Office suite.
