Oil Search Limited is one of Australia’s premier oil & gas exploration and development companies, established in Papua New Guinea in 1929 and with a corporate office in Sydney. Following the successful delivery of the world class PNG LNG project, Oil Search is now working closely with its joint venture partners on the next phase of LNG development in PNG.
 
A vacancy has arisen for a Corporate Risk Advisor to report into the Corporate Risk Manager and be the subject matter expert and advisor for the business in the project risk management area. This position will also develop the organisation’s project risk management processes through collaboration with various stakeholders and drive the right sized approach to project risk management practice across the business’s project portfolio.
 
The role:

• Develop the organisation’s risk management processes, specific to the projects, including development of tools and procedures enabling best practice and pragmatic risk management appropriate to differing projects scale and overall risk
• Act as a subject matter expert and adviser for Oil Search in the project risk management area, building increased capability across the business and assisting/advising project managers throughout the project lifecycles
• Drive strong project risk management performance across the portfolio of projects, to help project managers deliver their projects successfully
• Feed into and support the Opportunity Development Framework which governs the project management process and provides a gated process for decisions
• Align with functional stakeholders across the business to promote an integrated approach to project management, including the project management, and planning functions  
• Provide corporate oversight of project risk management which includes data gathering, analysis and reporting
• Provide input to corporate assurance processes for projects, providing an independent or semi-independent view of the management of key project risks, and a project’s readiness to progress based on control adequacy and action completion  

The Requirements:

• Formal qualifications in project and/or risk management
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management/ lead advisory role
• Experience working for an owner/operator company within the extraction industries
• A successful track record in managing project risk management as a business enabler
• Proven ability to move freely between different operating disciplines to achieve objectives
• Authentic leadership qualities and a passion for influencing, coaching, and mentoring
• Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs and priorities
