Metals X Limited owns and operates the Nifty Copper Operations in Western Australia and is undertaking a feasibility study of the Wingellina Nickel Project, located on the WA/SA/NT boarders. It is also Australia’s largest tin producer with its half ownership of the Renison Tin Project in Tasmania. It continues to be a diversified group exploring and developing metals and minerals in Australia.

Metals X is currently seeking an Underground Mine Foreman to join its team at the Nifty Copper Mine Operation. A family friendly roster is on offer. The assembly point is Perth, Western Australia.

Reporting to the Mine Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of continuous and efficient mine development and production, direct supervision of the underground mining workforce, and ensuring a safe and healthy work environment that aims for zero harm.

The position’s requirements are as following:

• Ensure the underground mining development and production functions comply with the relevant legislative, corporate and Mine’s standards;
• Manage and monitor the Mine’s policies and procedures relevant to the underground mining operations, where work practices and standards are upheld that leads to risk identification and correction, reduction in costs and an improvement in productivity;
• Provide strong and effective leadership to the underground mining workforce, to ensure they perform work in a safe and efficient manner;
• Manage the underground mining operations to ensure the Mine’s scheduled development and production targets are achieved;
• Ensure all contractors working within underground mining operations are performing work in accordance with the Company’s work practices and standards;
• Ensure the training competencies for the underground mining workforce are managed and that they are performing work safely and at their accredited level;     
• Work closely with the Mining Technical team to assist in planning and contribute to mine designs;
• Manage continuous rosters for the underground mining workforce;  
• Conduct regular inspections of the underground work area to mitigate any safety and / or compliance risks;
• Communicate effectively with all teams and departments at the Mine to establish and maintain a strong team based culture
• Develop and promote a team and co-operative approach at the Mine; and
• Contribute to achieving a positive, productive and safe working environment.

Qualification, Experience & Attribute:

• At least 10 years’ experience in an underground mining environment.
• Holds an Underground Supervisor’s Certificate of Competency.
• Working knowledge of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 (WA) and Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations 1995 (WA).
• High level of experience in managing underground mining crews.
• Strong and effective management, planning and organising skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• High levels of both written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of safety management procedures and relevant legislations.
• High attention to detail with strong problem solving skills.
• Full Medical and Drug and Alcohol Screen Clearance.
• Holding a ‘C’ Class (Manual) Driver’s Licence.
• National Police Clearance.
• You must be either an Australian citizen or a holder of an Australian permanent residency visa to be eligible to apply for this position.
