The quality-driven geophysical services company, Atlas Geophysics, is seeking a Geophysicist to join its small team of specialists to assist in an operations and geophysical processing role. Based out of our Operations Centre in Morley, Western Australia, this excellent opportunity will include a field component where you will observe our geophysical operations firsthand to gain an appreciation of how data are acquired.
Atlas is also expanding and you may be involved with the development of innovative geophysical techniques, acquisition methods and processing strategies for mineral and petroleum exploration, particularly with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV).
The role will also heavily involve operations management and coordination of field acquisition crews and so some after hours work may be required as our operations are 7 days a week.
You will ideally have:
• A relevant tertiary qualification in geophysics
• Previous GNSS and potential field processing experience and a sound knowledge of GNSS technologies, surveying and geodesy
• A hard-working, motivated attitude and a desire to improve, succeed and contribute
• The ability to grasp new concepts quickly and problem solve autonomously, often under pressure
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong PC and computer package knowledge (Geosoft, ERMapper, GIS Packages, MS Office Suite)
• An attention to detail and a desire to get it right first time, every time
• Experience with logistics, managing staff and HSE protocols.
• Previous experience working for a ground or airborne based geophysical contractor.
And you must be able to:
• Work outside of normal hours and on weekends, especially when deadlines are to be met, or field projects conclude. You will be required to take after hours calls from field crews requiring assistance and you will also be required to monitor crew check ins and aircraft movements/SAR.
• Travel to field projects on occasion for supervision, audits and training
• Work in a small team environment, and also independently with minimal supervision
• To work in Australia without an employer supported visa.
The company may offer the successful candidate prospects beyond an initial 12 month contract. Ideally, we are a looking for someone permanent who is not going to "learn and leave" or jump ship when we hit another mining boom.
