The Role

Our APAC Surface Reverse Circulation Division is seeking suitably qualified and experienced Drillers to operate RC drilling rigs and related site equipment.

Key Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct drilling operations in an effective, safe and economical manner
  • Conduct prestart and other safety meetings
  • Report and record HSE events
  • Problem solve rig issues as they arise
  • Complete daily shift reports for the Site Supervisor
  • Oversee the collection and shifting of samples during drilling process, ensuring correct collection procedure is adhered to
  • Regularly liaise with and provide feedback to Site Supervisors on drilling operations
  • Train and mentor Offsiders and Trainee Drillers
  • Conduct rig moves (setting up and packing up) including site mobilisation and demobilisation
  • Ensure equipment and vehicle prestart checks are completed
  • Ensure all plant maintenance and servicing schedule are adhered to and relevant parts ordered
  • Ensure all service and inspections paperwork is correctly filled out and forwarded to the appropriate people
  • Monitor consumables and conduct stock orders when required.

 

The Candidate

To be considered for this position you will have a high attention to detail and be team focused with excellent communication skills. With a strong respect for safety you will be able to follow set rules and regulations and Swick company values.

To be successful in this position you will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in RC Drilling
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong problem solving skills
  • Extensive understanding of OHS/Mine Safety Legislation and strong commitment to Safety
  • Strong understanding of RC Drilling and rig operations
  • Ability to read drill plans

 

Qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Drilling Operations (Mineral Exploration)
  • Certificate IV in Drilling Operations (Mineral Exploration) (desirable)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • HR Drivers Licence
  • Working at Heights Certification
  • National Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)
