About the role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Officer working within our Coal Mines Technical Services (CMTS) business, located in North Wollongong. Your role will be responsible for the analysis of raw diesel exhaust. This will include working at both the main laboratory / workshop and at mine/industrial sites. Reporting to the Laboratory Co-ordinator, you will be working independently to meet the regulatory requirements. This will include working at both the main laboratory / workshop and at mine/industrial sites, surface and underground.

Role responsibilities:

• Analysis of raw diesel exhaust gas for compliance with NATA, MDG29 and internal test methods at both the CMTS facilities and mine/industrial sites. The duties will involve some surface and underground work
• Maintain the laboratory/ workshop and mobile laboratory equipment
• Report any quality issues or non-conformances that may be observed
• Assist in initiating, providing or recommending outcomes to corrective and preventative actions
• Meeting with customers to comply with statutory testing requirements
• Consultation on Health & Safety matters
• Monitoring and review of Health & Safety risks, management practices, incidents and accidents
• Attend management review meetings when required

Essential qualifications and experience:

• Relevant Trade Certificate Mechanical or equivalent
• Experience in the analysis of diesel exhaust emissions and maintenance of analysis equipment that is used in both the coal mining and general industries

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Understanding of NATA and MGD29 requirements for diesel exhaust analysis in coal mines
• General knowledge and experience in underground coal mining
• Current valid NSW Driver licence
• A demonstrated commitment to safety with the ability to work in underground
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good understanding of computer systems and Microsoft Office
• A working ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
• Strong attention-to-detail
• A proven high level of customer service
