About the role

Billabong Gold are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Mine Geologist - Underground to join our team. Working on an 8:6 FIFO roster to Plutonic, this position is responsible for collecting primary geological information and performing underground geological activities required to facilitate the safe, efficient and cost-effective extraction and growth of the mineral reserve. 

The Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

• Supervision of ore extraction to minimise dilution and maximise recovery
• Production duties such as mapping, sampling, and logging as required
• Observe, document and depict geological features
• Ensuring the accurate tracking of ore from mine to ROM
• Provide accurate daily, weekly and monthly production data/reporting as required
• Monitor QA/QC of sampling and assaying
• Maintain high levels of communication between geological personnel, engineers, surveyors and operational personnel on site
• Assist with the planning and supervision of resource and grade control drilling programs and ensure that quality control is maintained at the highest possible level
• Assist with ore wire-framing and updating of significant geological structures within the mine
• Assist in all other Geology related duties as required
• Ensure compliance with environmental procedures and standards
• Deliver and support in achieving the sites balanced business plan goals; and
• Ensure compliance with all geology and site safe work procedures.

Skills and experience

• Commitment to safety in the workplace
• Bachelor of Science, majoring in Geology
• 2 – 3 years minimum experience in  a similar role
• Experience working within underground mining is essential (preferably gold)
• Proficiency using Vulcan software
• Excellent time management and interpersonal communication skills
• Personal drive, an ability to prioritise workload, work autonomously at times and with a wide range of key stakeholders is essential
