The company Our client, who has partnered with us for setting up several teams for them, is an international developer and investor of large-scale solar PV projects. Their parent company is one of the biggest industrial conglomerates in the world.
About the role This is a critical role for a new utility-scale solar IPP business in Australia, operating merchant solar plants across the NEM. You will lead technical decision-making and provide project management leadership and support to our internal senior team as well as our external developer partners in securing then converting a NEW-wide utility-scale solar PV development pipeline into operational assets (merchant strategy) over the coming years.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Lead the Australian solar technical department, managing largely outsourced consultant resources, to provide technical advice and project management for the development/delivery team.
• Lead technical aspects of due diligence when acquiring projects into our client portfolio, including competitive grid position analysis.
• Project Manage our Developer partners to de-risk projects, ensure high quality and accelerate delivery using internal and consultant resources to implement market leading processes – with a focus on fast & efficient grid connection processes.
• Be the primary technical contact for our client’s sister EPC and Module companies, including managing review of their work and assistance with RfP processes they run.
• Provide market leading technical knowledge and insight on technical solutions for solar farms.
• Manage formal due diligence process of more advanced projects as they move into the intense closing and financing phase.
• Manage relations and information exchange with Group technical department at global HQ to keep them informed and involved in major decisions (engineering, construction and asset management).
• Manage preparation and negotiation of EPC contract with external legal assistance.
  

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

• Strong Project Management skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Implements effective and efficient processes to ensure quick assessment, approval and reporting procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders.
• Successful and efficient in negotiating EPC contract terms specific to each project.
• Detailed understanding and experience of project delivery and key issues to be managed.
• Fluent spoken English and good written English skills required as technical report writing is a key part of the role.​

Requirements:

• Australian Solar industry experience required.
• Formal solar engineering qualifications preferred.
• Degree in Engineering preferred (Construction, Electrical, or Mechanical).
• Project management qualification preferred (PMI or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of solar industry, project economics, engineering and EPC / OM costing preferred.
• Good understanding of grid issues for renewables and what makes a good site.
• Highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong knowledge of project development steps.
• Ability to communicate effective with staff and company directors in Australia and Korea.
• Willingness to travel Intrastate and Interstate.The projects will be located in remote areas of Australia and at least monthly travel to the projects site/sites should be expected.
