Mastermyne Group has a five-year strategy to become a world-class provider of contracting services. To support this strategy and cement our position as a leader in the Underground Coal Mining Sector we are working towards the goal of operating and managing Whole of Mine (WoM) operations.

To undertake this work successfully, we need a skilled and qualified Mechanical Engineer Manager to carry out the relevant statutory responsibilities in line with current Health and Safety Management systems and the NSW’s relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, supervise, monitor and review the mechanical engineering standards and procedures forming part of operations to ensure compliance to relevant statutory legislation;
  • Supervise, review and advise on the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of mechanical plant and installations at the operation;
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills through building productive and positive relationships with other statutory authorities on site, crews, contractors and alike;
  • Establish and maintain mechanical installations, reticulation and protection systems;
  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership in the workplace through leading by example, fostering Health and Safety awareness among mechanical staff, managing risk and promoting continuous improvements in the area of mechanical safety;
  • Maintain an up-to-date awareness of all relevant mechanical safety requirements, records, legislation and policies and communicate these to employees;
  • Liaise and communicate with the Regulator as required.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum five (5) years working in an underground coal mine with involvement in installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of mechanical plant and installations;
  • Practical experience in underground development mining methods;
  • Effective leadership style and time management;
  • Uncompromising commitment to health, safety, environment and quality;
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) Australian University or equivalent qualification;
  • Certificate of Competence to be Mechanical Engineering Manager;
  • Practising Certificate to be an Mechanical Engineering Manager;
  • Current First Aid Certificate;
  • Current Emergency preparedness qualification - (RIIERR602D) Establish and maintain underground coal mine emergency preparedness and response systems.
