Oil Search was established in Papua New Guinea in 1929 and is the country’s largest oil producer and private employer. Over 95% of its assets are in PNG, where it holds oil and gas production and exploration licenses plus a 29% interest in the US$19 billion PNG LNG Project. This world class liquefied natural gas (LNG) development, which delivered its first LNG sales in May 2014, has quadrupled Oil Search’s production and transformed the Company into a major LNG exporter.
 
The Kumul Marine Terminal Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient and cost-effective coordination of all activities related to the export of crude oil shipments via Kumul Marine Terminal (KMT) and Offshore Facilities, including operation of the Kutubu export pipeline system. The role is accountable for all marine operations and maintenance aspects of the terminal jacket and topsides and-export system components, including the Single Point Mooring (SPM) and offtake hose.

You will be tactically responsible for the onsite facilitation and implementation of Maintenance, Project and Integrity activities for the marine terminal and offshore facilities.
 
Accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all operations, maintenance execution, reporting and security of Kumul Marine Terminal
  • Ensure tankers are properly screened, scheduled, berthed and loaded in accordance with established procedures
  • Interface with support vessels/crafts to ensure that movements/ supply runs are managed properly for the terminal requirements
  • Provide input into the development and implementation of procedures
  • Endorse the production forecast, including facility specific throughput considerations as part of the IAP Framing Session
  • Provide input into the Kumul Marine Terminal and offshore facilities LOAP
  • Assist in the development of succession plans, including maintaining training and development standards for all offshore personnel
  • Promote a value for safety and implement OSL’s HSES policies in order to maintain safe, reliable operations

Skills and experience required:

  • Master Class One Certificate of Competency (STCW 95) (well regarded)
  • OIM level MOME (Management of Major Emergencies) certificate
  • 10+ years’ experience on offshore operating facilities, coordinating contractors, projects, operations and maintenance activities
  • Working understanding of applicable international Maritime and Offshore Safety Case Legislation, Rules, Regulations and Guidelines
  • Sound understanding of crude oil measurement and loss control and experience in preparation of shipping documentation (BoL’s)
  • Significant leadership experience, complimented by the ability to engage with key stakeholders and the development of local national workforce
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, and demonstrated experience effecting positive cultural change

This position is offered on a 24-month fixed-term-contract, rotating to Papua New Guinea on a 28/28 FIFO rotation from any major city.
