The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a progressive retailer operating in the dynamic retail electricity market. The medium sized company is a growing and profitable business that will seek listing on the ASX in the near future. This role represents a significant hire and is an important part of the continuing growth and development of the Company.
It is an opportunity to take a significant role in an emerging solutions provider to the SME market. You will have a high profile in a growing Company in this vibrant and important market place.
You will be expressing and developing your skills in a Company focussed on a very specific – critical – customer segment and therefore improving the way the energy market delivers value to this customer base.
Specific Responsibilities
Pricing
- Establish and conduct ongoing review of the company’s pricing process in conjunction with CFO.
- Develop, maintain and conduct ongoing review of pricing model(s).
- Pricing delivered as per pricing process and agreed Service Level Agreement with Sales & Marketing.
- Establish and develop the process to produce retail/wholesale price curves.
- Maintain retail/wholesale price curves on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain portfolio profitability at established margins.
- Develop and produce periodic pricing and margin reports
Portfolio Management
- Manage Environmental Requirements
- Monitoring spot/OTC/futures electricity market and proactively submit recommendations to improve the strategic position of the portfolio.
- Develop and maintain relationships with chosen wholesale counterparties.
- Formulate and develop wholesale risk strategies for recommendation.
- Implementation of wholesale risk strategies including acquisition of energy market products capable of growing the company in its target markets.
- Develop and produce periodic reports as per the reporting requirements established by the Risk Management Committee.
- Manage the volumetric risks associated with the acquisition of customers within risk limits established through the Risk Management Committee.
- Establish load forecasting process, develop load forecast model and produce monthly load forecasts in all jurisdictions the business operates in
- Develop and maintain an environmental product model.
- Develop and produce monthly environmental product reports and distribute to key stakeholders in the business.
- Work in conjunction with Regulatory and Compliance to ensure timely surrender of environmental products to regulatory bodies.
Managerial
- Participate in projects to provide systems and IT solutions to enhance business operational cost efficiencies.
- Manage and develop the pricing analyst
The Person
The Manager – Energy Markets candidate will bring strong intellectual and strategic skills to the management of energy procurement and risk which is core to the continuing ability of the company to win and retain customers. He or she will work within the Executive Team to strengthen the company’s capability and continue its development.
You will be engaged in broad areas within the company, delivering energy procurement, managing energy risk reporting and delivering the company’s pricing models. You will need to bring strategic capability rather than the simply tactical orientation of more traditional companies, to enable development and management of procurement and energy risk as the market and the Company continually evolve.
You will be part of the senior management group, and bring a wide understanding of the Australian Electricity and Gas markets.
Selection Criteria
Mandatory
- Previous experience in the Energy Industry
- Strong business acumen
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong analytical and decision making skills
- Proven ability to be able to work in a team environment
Desirable
- Experience working in the derivatives trading environment
- AFMA accreditation and Responsible Officer criteria are met
Qualifications
- Bachelor level qualification in Commerce or Finance
