Wood is currently recruiting a Piping Designer to join our team in Melbourne on a 6 months contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing and contributing to Projects in accordance with good design skills, technical requirements and the design is fit for purpose and to be confident in executing these piping design activities utilising in house PDMS system.

This role will be part of a close knit and proficient Engineering Team with in WOOD that supports each other as well as ensuring our client receives best practice support, ensuring we deliver at the highest level possible.

Responsibilities 

• Responsible for performing piping design activities using project approved “in house” 3D CAD modelling PDMS system and 2D drafting systems
• To recognise and understand guidance and direction from their peers associated to project specific design requirements, and to be open to in contributing to the discussions
• Apply good interpersonal skills, liaising with members of other disciplines and departments
• Apply an awareness and willingness to work as a team member
• To have a good knowledge base of design drafting practices and conformance to standards
• Understand requirements of the design quality system and meticulously ensure that these requirements are met
• Represent Piping design commitments and requirements on all projects
• Safety – Responsible for personal safety and working within the Occupational Health & Safety procedures.

  Skills / Qualifications

• Should have completed a technical drawing apprenticeship or a Diploma of engineering or equivalent standard of trade achieved
• To be familiar or gained experience with offshore topsides piping design requirement and onshore gas and oil facilities
• Minimum 3 years proven experience of detailed piping design gained with design contractors and/or oil/gas companies within the petrochemical industry particularly with respect to offshore and on shore oil and gas installations
• A member of a piping design team on at least one major Greenfield projects offshore with a recognised company within the Oil & Gas Industry
• Experience user of the 3D CAD modelling system PDMS and 2D drafting system applicable to piping layout and design
• A committed team player able to work on own initiative with the minimum of supervision.
