Wood is currently recruiting a Senior Piping Designer to join our team in Melbourne on a 6 months contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing and contributing to Projects in accordance with project budget, technical requirements, cost estimates, and undertake design reviews to ensure they are fit for purpose and be confident in executing these plant layouts and piping design activities utilising in house PDMS system.

This role will be part of a close knit and proficient Engineering Team with in WOOD that supports each other as well as ensuring our client receives best practice support, ensuring we deliver at the highest level possible.

Responsibilities 

• To be highly capable and confident in developing brownfields concepts, FEED through to execution, in  a seamless fashion working with all other disciplines in design and Engineering project personnel
• Apply recognised offshore engineering practices applicable to piping design and topside/plant layout
• Sound interpersonal skills, liaising with members of other disciplines and departments.
• Apply an awareness and willingness to work as a team member
• Quality Assurance – work within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems. Ensuring technical correctness and compliance with standard procedures and design basis
• Ensure open communication between stakeholders including peers and Project Managers to ensure schedules are met in accordance with project requirements
• Assist in the technical/commercial preparation of bid and tender packages
• Safety – Responsible for personal safety and working within the Occupational Health & Safety procedures.

  Skills / Qualifications

• Familiar with the prime drivers related to offshore topsides layout design
• Minimum 10 years proven experience of detailed piping design gained with design contractors and/or oil/gas companies within the petrochemical industry particularly with respect to offshore oil and gas installations
• Min 6 years’ experience in a Senior Piping Design Role in the Oil and Gas industry, with some Offshore back ground, or other experience you deemed to be equivalent
• A sound knowledge of the codes and standards and a good understanding of offshore engineering practices applicable to topsides piping design for oil and gas facilities
• A experienced user of the 3D PDMS modelling and sound knowledge of 2D drafting systems applicable to piping layout and design
• A committed and professional team player able to work using initiative with minimal supervision
• Exposure to or a good understanding of fabrication, construction and installation activities although detailed involvement is not essential, but would be valued.
