MAXAM Australia specialises in the supply of explosives and associated services to the mining, quarrying and civil construction industries. Our head office is located in Brisbane. Distribution and storage centres are located in various areas around Australia.
As a result of expansion in the mining sector, MAXAM is seeking to employ experienced Site Supervisor/Senior Shot Firers to service our operations at the Mungari Operations, located just outside of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. This position is residential and operates on a 7 days on 7 days off roster.
The role of Shot Firer involves the supervision of day to day blast operations, including transport and delivery of dangerous goods, preparation for blasts and ensuring blasts are managed safely and in compliance with MAXAM Australia's Safety Systems, Procedures and Policies. The role can be physically demanding and will involve working in various extreme weather conditions.
Ideally applicants should possess the following;
· Recent and demonstrated practical Shot Firing experience
· Demonstrated knowledge of current drill and blast practices used in mining
· A strong commitment to safe working practices
It is essential that you hold the following licences;
· Open Manual Driver's licence,
· Shot Firer's licence – open pit mining
· Dangerous Goods Security card
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical examination (including drug screen) and a national police clearance.
