Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the work of this position encompasses health and safety tasks and various assisting tasks to support underground mining activities including delivering consumables and materials, transport of personnel, housekeeping and general duties underground.

The Key Tasks of the role include:

• Conduct pre-starts on equipment prior to operation.
• Initiate and participate in equipment handovers with Underground Shift Supervisor and cross shift operator.
• Think ahead to ensure that headings are set up properly and in time.
• Removal of unused equipment and excess ground support from completed headings.
• Keep light vehicles clean and in good order, report defects and ensure no damage.
• Follow reasonable instruction as directed by the Underground Shift Supervisor and Jumbo Operator.
• Work in confined areas and warm environment.
• Coordinate heading set ups with Bogger Operators and Jumbo Operators.
• Reduce consumables waste.
• Report significant changes in the ground conditions and use of consumables.
• Operate equipment to Best Practice to minimise damage on equipment.
• Provide assistance to other mining operators as and when required.
• Coach new and/or inexperienced operators.
• Conduct manual scaling technique as required.
• Share knowledge and/or experiences with crew and/or management.
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping.

The ideal applicant will have:

• Current unrestricted “C” Class WA Manual Drivers Licence
• Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of machinery
• Current Western Australian DGSC
• Satisfactory GSDU / NPC clearance.
• Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable)
