Senior Seismic Operations Specialist

Position Overview

The role of the Senior Seismic Operations Specialist will primarily be to manage hard-rock seismic field operations and ensure that technical project requirements are being met, data quality is being maximised and field operations are being optimised. The Senior Seismic Operations Specialist will be responsible for technical implementation of all seismic survey equipment and will require an abundance of experience in instrumentation, parameterisation, IT and ICT trouble shooting as well as operational HSE compliance and crew management.

Salary and benefits will be a minimum of $100,000 per annum.  The salary negotiated with the successful applicant will be a reflection of the level of technical knowledge and experience required to fulfil this critical role.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Senior Seismic Observer will include:

  • Acquisition of surface seismic data
  • Technical management of seismic field programs
  • QA and QC of seismic data quality and project implementation
  • Management of daily crew movements and technical operations
  • Instrumentation and interfacing of various seismic acquisition systems, source types and source controllers
  • Optimising system instrumentation and utilisation
  • Daily reporting to senior management
  • Measurement of daily and overall project productivity
  • Interact with clients and provide technical expertise
  • Communication of all activities to Technical Operations Manager
  • Liaising with Operations Team to implement efficient field programs
  • Supporting the technical and operations groups as required

 

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 20+ years experience on seismic operational management in technical roles in Australia, Africa, Europe and the Americas
  • Experience in managing seismic crews between 10-100+ personnel
  • Willingness to work in remote locations for long durations
  • Technical certification and operational experience with all INOVA Seismic Acquisition Systems. Must include experience with Aries I, Aries II, FireFly, G3i, IX1 and HAWK Nodal Systems
  • Thorough understanding and operational experience with all source electronics systems, particularly INOVA Vibepro HD
  • Thorough understanding and operational experience with radio communications, programming and protocols
  • Proficient with all Microsoft software packages, networking and excel VBA
  • Experience with OMNI Design software
  • Experience with GIS mapping software
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong safety ethic
  • Flexibility to work in diverse environments in Australia and overseas
  • Experience working in sub-zero winter operations
  • Experience working in mining environments
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Professional in appearance and personable demeanour.
  • Valid driver’s licence
