Our client, a mining contractor with mining operations in the Lithgow area, are seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor/Offcier with a surface mining background.

This is a permanent position working on a Monday to Friday roster and would ideally suit someone who is locally based in the Lithgow area.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will be accountable for coordinating, maintaining and enhancing safety and health management processes and systems of the mine and CHPP facilities.

About the role

  • Undertake reviews of Company training programs, procedures and policies as required, ensuring continuous improvement
  • Coordinate the development of the HSEQ management system, documentation and monitor the performance of the sites safety procedures.
  • Participate in Risk Assessments and JSA's for projects, as required.
  • Implement and maintain effective record keeping and document control procedures.
  • Plan and conduct Safety Meetings, Competency Assessments, Task Observations and Inspections.
  • Preparing HSE monthly reports.
  • Monitoring and providing support in the use of the HSE incident management system.
  • Conducting routine and ad-hoc HSE statistical and graphical performance reporting
  • Updating management plans and risk registers.
  • Supporting Operations with administrative functions.
  • Identifying opportunities to continuously improve HSE performance, recording and reporting systems and processes.
  • Other administration tasks, as required.
  • Facilitate inductions
  • Undertake accident and incident investigations as required, ensuring all accidents and incidents are reported and recorded in a timely manner and to required legalities. 
Essential to this position you will have:
  • Previous experience in HSE Administration/Management.
  • Experience in computer databases and Information Management Systems.
  • Good understanding of Mining legislation and Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Experience in investigation processes and analysis.
  • Have a thorough understanding of ISO accreditation and systems.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • HSE or Engineering/Construction industry experience will be viewed favourably.
The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications:
  • Surface Mining experience (essential)
  • Certificate IV in OH&S
  • C Class Driver's License
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment would be advantagious
  • Auditor qualifications OHS (desirable)
