The Role

In response to the Company’s continuing growth and operational success, two new positions have been created to accommodate our expanding team.


We are currently seeking suitably experienced Roving Mining Trainer’s to join our Training & Proficiency team, working a 2:1 FIFO (Day shift) roster across our WA based sites.


Reporting to our Training & Proficiency Superintendent, these roles will be responsible for the training and assessment of training packages as well as supporting, developing and reviewing the MRL Training System.


You will also be accountable for assisting our sites in gaining maximum proficiency, to increase the Company’s return on investment.


To be successful in this role, you will be a highly skilled, motivated and experienced Trainer/Assessor in the open pit mining context with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, who enjoys engaging with people and has a passion for ensuring employees are given the correct tools and training to reach the best of their abilities.


Your Responsibilities

  • Train and assess personnel in the safe and efficient operation of Surface Mobile Equipment.
  • Build collaborative relationships with MRL front-line staff and crews
  • Identify and prioritise training needs across workforce segments
  • Identify opportunities to upskill SME Operators and initiatives to increase productivity
  • Effectively present training information to audiences of various sizes
  • Develop training packages and documentation when required to meet business needs
  • Deliver Nationally Recognised Training Packages
  • Liaise with Site Management regarding Training Processes and Procedures
  • Facilitate MRL employee training and assessments across all WA sites
  • Review and ensure all plant and equipment programs are updated to meet current standards of operation
  • Proactively engage work groups


Your Experience

  • Several years demonstrated experience in training and assessing within an open pit mining environment
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE)
  • Surface Mobile Equipment Units of Competency from the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package (RII)
  • Several years’ experience operating Surface Mobile Equipment in a mining context
  • Presenting Training and Information to large audiences
  • Intermediate computer skills for Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint software systems
  • Familiarisation working with Training Management Systems and the associated tools
  • Desirable Qualifications and experience in Working at Heights, Confined Space, Integrated Tool Carrier, EWP, Cranes
  • Desirable: Diploma of Training and Assessment
  • Desirable: Frontline Management qualifications
