Our client is a multinational energy resources and environmental consultancy company. In the Australia and Asia Pacific region, their 1,000 professional and technical staff work from offices in 24 locations, including metropolitan and regional centres in high growth areas.

The Role

The General Manager, NSW/ACT/QLD will lead the Project Approvals and Communication (PAC) business unit’s operations in NSW, the ACT and Queensland. This role is required to balance operational issues, short-term financial performance and long-term strategic growth opportunities. The General Manager, NSW/ACT/QLD will lead the Project Approvals and Communication (PAC) business unit’s operations in NSW, the ACT and Queensland. Responsibilities

- Be accountable for the geographic P&L performance, with an equal interest and commitment to the strategy and performance of the wider business unit.

- Be responsible for the development and delivery of the geographic business plan in line with the business unit wide and location specific objectives and targets. This includes developing business plans, financial management, client service delivery and leading and managing the local team to achieve timely, high quality client outcomes, which are profitable for the business.

- Be responsible for overseeing PAC’s effective working relationships with other local business units.
As a member of the PAC executive team, this role will contribute to the annual and three-year PAC business unit plans. All executive team members must make decisions and consider initiatives to develop and maintain the successful performance and culture of the PAC business unit as a whole, not just the geographies or technical disciplines that they represent.


Requirements

- Deep understanding of the Australian infrastructure sector, particularly in the planning, approvals and delivery of major initiatives and projects.

- Tertiary qualifications backed by 15 to 20 years experience in the east coast infrastructure market.

- Demonstrable experience in one of the following areas in a professional services consultancy:
- Communications and stakeholder engagement.
- Infrastructure planning and development.
- Project definition and planning.

- Demonstrated capability in commercial performance, marketing, business development and team growth.

- Proven experience in leading and managing multi-disciplined professional services business/es at an executive level.

- Strong knowledge of commercial concepts in a consulting environment and demonstrated ability to successfully manage business finances.

- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
