SunWater is Queensland’s largest bulk water service provider with an 80-year history of delivering world-class bulk water solutions for agriculture, industry, mining and urban communities. Due to current transformation, we are seeking a Senior Water Industry Advisor - Policy and Planning to join the Brisbane office.
About the role
The Senior Water Industry Advisor - policy and planning acts as the essential link between Operations and the Natural Resources Management Regulator in maintaining SunWater’s compliance with Resource Operations Licenses.
As the Senior Water Industry Advisor, your key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Monitoring and updating the Water Industry Policy;
- Coordinating and preparing submissions to State and Federal regulators on new and amended legislation regulatory impact statements;
- Providing advice on the requirements of Resource Operations Licenses and Distribution Operations Licenses;
- Responding to customer and Irrigation Advisory Committee queries regarding the Queensland water regulatory framework including the operation of water sharing rules; and
- Updating operational rules to facilitate SunWater’s operations and meet customer needs and dam safety requirements.
About you
The successful candidate must have demonstrated a proven experience in the following:
- Previous experience in developing and applying water policies, procedures and plans to water supply schemes;
- Five years’ experience working in the areas of natural resource management or for a water utility business;
- A degree in engineering, science or law;
- Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills including a proven ability to formulate water related strategies, policies and implementation plans;
- Strong technical writing ability and experience writing submissions; and
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and work effectively within a team environment.
