About the role

Billabong Gold are currently seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced Alternate Underground Manager to join our team.

Reporting to the Underground Manager, this role will be responsible for providing direction and leadership toward the achievement of objectives, requirements and budgets for the Underground Operation.  

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Assist the Underground Manager with the management and supervision of the operational team.
  • Generate operating plans and budgets that align with the Company's operating requirements and maximise, as practicable, the underground mine's positive contribution to the Operation.
  • Devise and implement strategies and action plans to ensure that the mining operations support the Company's strategic initiatives;
  • Provide technical support to the mining operations as required;
  • Analyse and report on mining operational performance to identify any early interventions required to maintain performance.
  • Communicate with mine personnel on a regular basis, keeping them informed on the status, direction and targets of the Operation.
  • Develop, implement, manage, review and improve safe systems of work for underground mining operations to ensure compliance to legislation, Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance of statutory duties of the Underground Manager in accordance with the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994.

Skills and experience

  • First Class Mine Manager Certification of Competency.
  • 5 + years' experience in a similar capacity and environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering (or similar).
  • Commitment to safety in the workplace with a strong understanding of relevant West Australian Mine Safety legislation and accompanying statutory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
