About the opportunity

We are seeking a Group Leader on a 10.3 hr shift at Wagerup Residue.

In this leadership role, you will be responsible for coaching and mentoring others to reach their full potential, developing and upholding very high standards of process and production practices and guiding the team to achieve its challenging goals in all areas of the business.

About you

You will act as a help chain to the team, guiding the execution of work and utilising your problem solve skills to assist with production and interpersonal issues. This is achieved using Alcoa’s tools and systems provided.

You will be responsible for implementing and sustaining business system improvements, assisting team members to implement suggestion scheme ideas, and the auditing of standardised work practices. You will enjoy meeting challenges and working with a diverse group to develop and implement strategies across our workgroups.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and the environment, have plenty of initiative and self-motivation to excel in working with minimal supervision. Highly developed team leadership, communication skills and experience in implementing and managing change initiatives is required

Team leadership skills as well as good problem solving and decision-making skills. You will also be proactive and an excellent communicator.

To assist in the selection process of this campaign, the following assessment criteria will be considered; fitness for the role, absenteeism, LMS folder completion, demonstration of teamwork, initiative, Alcoa values, productivity and previous work experience.

About where you will work

Wagerup Alumina Refinery is located on the border of Western Australia’s Peel and South West regions, 130 kilometres south of Perth, four kilometres north of Yarloop and 13 kilometres south of Waroona. Wagerup refinery employs approximately 620 people and of those, around 30 per cent live in the local shires of Waroona and Harvey.
