About the role

Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, as a Mine Planning Specialist you will be engaged in providing design, scheduling and execution direction around the +1 to 12 week time frame to our Peak Downs Operation. This role will provide you opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of Mine Planning; with an initial focus on Truck/Shovel Prestrip design & scheduling as well as Drill & Blast design and scheduling.  Use your already solid mine planning skills and experience in this busy and challenging short-term mine planning role to develop effective working relationships with the operational and medium-term planning teams, in order to ensure the efficient execution of your plans and schedules.

Your responsibilities

  • Prepare Drill & blast and/or Truck & Shovel designs and schedules;

  • Communicate the designs and schedules to Operations;

  • Develop and follow the Production Planning standards and processes;

  • Participate in the investigation of reported events for Production Planning;

  • Participate in training for Production Planning;

  • Identify and implement Production Planning improvement initiatives;

  • Develop the design for formulation of the budget;

  • Build cross-functional relationship with the Operational sub-functions and interact extensively with the Planning sub-functions.

    About you

    As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary education in Engineering and previous experience working at a Coal Mining operation.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across departments and to communicate with disciplines at all levels. A strong working knowledge of Vulcan, XACT, Microsoft Office, 3d Dig and Drill and Blast software packages are essential.

    Access to heavily subsidised company housing or Single Person Village Accommodation is provided with this role.

    This role works on a Monday to Friday roster, with flexible conditions available to qualifying candidates.
