This is an exciting time to join PanAust, a copper and gold producer, with operations in Laos and a large pre-development project in Papua New Guinea. PanAust's producing assets in Laos are the Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and the Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation, managed by our subsidiary company, Phu Bia Mining. Both of these operations are delivering strong production and cost performance. PanAust holds an 80 per cent interest in the Frieda River Copper-Gold project in Papua New Guinea, one of the largest known undeveloped copper and gold deposits in the world, which will become a long-life open-pit operation. The strategic direction of the Company is to maximise returns from its producing assets while advancing pre-development projects that offer potential to sustain and grow the business in the long term.

We offer attractive salary package and excellent rosters for both residential and fly in, fly out employee that includes travel in company time and specially housing and children's education allowances are included in salary package of residential roster. Our modern mine camps provide a range of Western and Asian food and sporting and recreational facilities, including football field, gym, pool tables and wet mess.

This position is based at our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation, located approximately 120km north of the Lao capital, Vientiane. Phu Kham is a conventional open pit mine producing approximately 85,000 tonnes of copper concentrate annually. The process plant, upgraded to a design capacity of 19 million tonnes per annum, comprises a SAG mill and two ball mill grinding circuits, each rated at 13 mega watts, with copper and precious metal recovery by flotation. 

Reporting to the Fixed Plant Maintenance Superintendent, you will play an important role to support the development of the Lao Supervisors and their teams to sustainably maintain high levels of availability and reliability across the process plant.

Your outstanding leadership and coaching skills will be critical to your success in supporting and developing the leadership capability of our Lao Supervisors. This is an excellent opportunity to really make a difference and see the team grow and develop as a direct result of your efforts.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide 'hands on' support, development, mentoring, training and guidance to the Lao Supervisors in the field
  • Work with the Supervisors to identify, develop and implement mechanical improvements to improve plant performance and optimise associated costs
  • Work with the Supervisors to ensure 100% compliance with all statutory codes, acts, regulations and standards pertaining to day to day maintenance activities
  • Provide assistance in the design, development and execution of project work
  • Carry out all day to day activities ethically, responsibly and in accordance with recognised best practices in order to lead by example
  • Develop and maintain a culture focused on delivering "best practice" maintenance and safety outcomes

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Mechanical trade qualification
  • Extensive maintenance background in minerals processing plant, with broad experience across mills, crushers, conveyor belts, pumps and other mechanical equipment
  • Proven success in training and developing staff in a developing country
  • Strong understanding of modern maintenance systems, planning and scheduling processes
  • Unwavering safety focus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong cultural awareness
