Round Oak Minerals is a subsidiary of Washington H. Soul Pattinson & Co Ltd (WHSP). This includes a Cloncurry Operation with a centralised processing facility located 4km from the township of Cloncurry in North Queensland servicing a number of mining tenements in the area.  Additionally, Round Oak Minerals also has projects in South Australia, Victoria and has just recently acquired the Jaguar Mine in Western Australia. 2018 is shaping up to be a year of significant growth for the Company.
 

The Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Emergency Services Officer to join our vibrant HST team at Jaguar. Reporting to HST Manager, this is a permanent full-time position on an 8 days on 6 days off roster, flying in and out of Perth.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the on-site first aid clinic;
  • Facilitate Injury Management including liaising with health professionals, supporting injured workers, administering and monitoring;
  • Return to Work Plans that enhance workers ability to return to full capacity in the most effective manner;
  • Support line supervisors with timely Injury Incident Investigations, and associated reporting;
  • Providing strong leadership to the site Emergency Response Team (ERT), including developing and facilitating Emergency Response Training;
  • Developing, reviewing and maintaining emergency response procedures and systems;
  • Conducting scheduled inspections and stocktakes of all on site Mines Rescue equipment including the Ambulance, Fire Truck and ordering supplies; and
  • Develop, review and facilitate risk assessments and rescue plans for confined spaces.
     

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role in a mining environment;
  • Diploma of Paramedical Science or Bachelor of Paramedical Science preferred, minimum qualification required Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance);
  • RII30709 Certificate III Mine Emergency Response and Rescue;
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment;
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing (Nationally Accredited Training);
  • Ability to draw blood specimens for biological testing will be highly regarded
  • Experience managing a mine site first aid clinic;
  • Proven track of successfully leading an ERT Team;
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering emergency response training material to suit site needs;
  • Coordinate appropriate onsite emergency exercises;
  • A sound knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements;
  • The ability to build immediate credibility with the workforce from diverse backgrounds;
  • Ability to work well under pressure with stretch targets and timely delivery of projects and tasks assigned to the role;
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated IT Skills including medical database and safety systems; and
  • “MR” Class Drivers Licence.
