We are looking for a Mining Engineer to join our team at the QCoal Northern hub.  Reporting to the Technical Services Manager you will work collaboratively with a close-knit team to deliver high-quality solutions and results. 

As the Mining Engineer at QCoal you will be responsible for:

• Overseeing the execution of all aspects of the mine planning function
• Providing guidance and input into the drill and blast, pit design and short-term planning processes
• Daily reporting and data validation.
• Completing the end of month reconciliations and reporting process
• Assessing opportunities to maximise equipment utilisation
• Preparing inputs for the control budget process
• Completing rehabilitation and water management designs
• Liaising with production staff to ensure plans are being executed as per design
• Providing guidance and input into graduate engineers [link removed]

Some of the key skills required to be successful in this role include:

• Demonstrated experience in mine planning, pit design and drill and blast
• Strong communication skills and approachability with a positive can-do attitude
• Open cut coal mining experience in a similar role
• Proven experience and a strong understanding of Vulcan
• Experience with high precision GPS, on site data capture and reporting systems
• Experience using infoMine and iVolve software desirable

Roster and Location

5/2 roster with full camp facilities provided and flights to/from Brisbane [link removed] available (if required).  The QCoal Northern Hub is situated in the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, about 6km south of Collinsville.  Thiess has recently secured a 4 year contract extension until 2022.  It is the gateway to the Whitsundays and the Whitsunday Islands, being so close to the coast!
