Doray Minerals Ltd (ASX:DRM) is an Australian Gold and Copper Producer.

The Company’s Deflector Gold Copper Project is located in the southern Murchison region of WA near Yalgoo, 450km north of Perth and 160km east of Geraldton. First production from the Deflector open pit occurred in May 2016 and the transition to solely underground production was completed by June 2017.

Deflector is a relatively shallow, narrow vein, underground mine. The ore is located in a series of structurally controlled lodes and is open for extensions at depth and along strike. A purpose built processing facility was constructed to recover gold in bullion and produce a copper gold concentrate via flotation methods.

Recent in and near mine exploration has been successful making the high-grade Link Lode and Da Vinci discoveries within and adjacent to the current Deflector workings. The mineralisation characteristics of these new lodes appear similar to the current Deflector ore and will integrate seamlessly with existing operations extending both the annualised output and project life. Work is underway to fully define these exciting new discoveries as well as provide suitable data to adequately assess their economic potential and commence extraction as supplementary ore to Deflector.

The Role

Working as part of the Doray Minerals team and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Perth-based role of Senior Mining Engineer will provide technical support to our current and prospective operations, with regular site travel where required. You will work closely with the Operations, Growth and Finance teams to drive strategies to ensure maximum value is realised from the existing Mineral Resources, as well as evaluating future business improvement and business development opportunities prospects for the Group.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

• Support site strategic mining direction to optimise future production of gold and copper;
• Prepare technical documents, financial models and summary presentations to evaluate and make recommendations on opportunities and best practice;
• Develop standards for studies and evaluation of future prospects and assist site to further develop their suite of operational standards and processes;
• Identify opportunities for business development through creation of watch-lists and evaluation of assets;
• Conduct due diligence evaluation of potential acquisitions, including building financial models;
• Undertake formal studies, including feasibility, pre-feasibility and scoping studies;
• Act as a technical leader and provide expertise in the resolution of operational technical problems;
• Identify and lead improvement projects, including cut-off grade policy systems and processes;
• Assist in the preparation of plans and schedules, and annual mining budget and Ore Reserve Statements; and
• Provide site coverage if required.

About You

You are a talented, highly motivated individual used to delivering successful outcomes who has the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with employees, contractors, consultants and regulatory bodies. You have an in-depth knowledge of narrow vein, underground mining functions, with specific skills in planning, scheduling and evaluation.

This will be supported by the following qualifications, experience and characteristics:

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, preferably with another relevant formal qualification;
• Minimum 7 years metalliferous mining experience including narrow-vein, underground mining;
• Western Australian First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency is preferred;
• Strong working knowledge and application of:
  • MS Office suite (clear written technical documents; effective presentations; sound financial evaluations)
  • Deswik and Surpac, or equivalent mining software, as well as
  • Ability with databases and an interest in practical application of stochastic modelling to enhance the output of current deterministic models.
• Excellent organisational, analytical and both written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong emotional intelligence to successfully work in a consultative and inclusive manner with colleagues, contractors and Senior Management;
• Pro-active approach with a can-do attitude and ability to always meet deadlines;
• A drive and passion for safe work practices and good working knowledge of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act (1994) and Regulations (1995);
• A desire to help create and perpetuate an enjoyable workplace where having fun and achieving success are the norms; and
• Current “C” class WA Driver’s licence.
