Auctus Resources is re-establishing and expanding operations at the former Mungana mine site located approximately 16 kilometres from Chillagoe, 200 km west of Cairns. The operation consists of two underground mines feeding a process plant capable of producing multiple Zinc, Copper, Lead and precious metals concentrates.

Auctus Resources is seeking to appoint an experienced Project Metallurgist, someone who is organised, with strong problem solving skills. Reporting to the Plant Met Supervisor, and working within a small team of 5, the key objectives are to initiate and implement metallurgical projects designed to improve performance of the processing plant and provide data and reports from test work to enable expansion studies and design of new plant.

The core accountabilities of the position are:-

  • Initiate and manage metallurgical projects to provide design data for expansion studies and new plant.  Prioritise and complete tasks and test work in a timely manner.  Provide professional project reports within agreed timeframes
  • Manage metallurgical projects to improve plant performance and increase plant efficiencies.  Provide hands on technical assistance to the process plant Operations Team to ensure project implementation and sustainability;
  • Provide coverage for Plant Metallurgist duties to monitor plant key performance indicators and provide operational support to ensure daily, weekly and monthly plans and production targets are achieved.  Support the Plant Metallurgist for plant optimisation.
  • Provide coverage for Metallurgical Coordinator duties;
  • Investigate and improve the metallurgical performance of each unit operation including comminution, flotation and dewatering circuits, tailings management, concentrate and stockpile management and movements;
  • Support daily and monthly metallurgical balances and reconciliations and providing metallurgical performance analysis and reports including reagent usage;
  • Regression analysis of circuit data and Metallurgical modelling;
  • Organise and lead metallurgical surveys and test work;
  • Mentoring and coaching Operational Personnel;
  • Understand and work within the Auctus Resources OHS&T system and processes. Take part in investigations into workplace incidents and breeches.

To be successful, the candidate will have:-

  • Bachelor degree qualification in Minerals Processing related discipline
  • 3 years' proven processing plant experience including flotation, leaching and gravity processes in gold and base metals
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work and risk management practices
  • Strong problem solving, analytical skills, understanding of quality control and sampling techniques
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Autonomous team player with the ability to maintain internal and external relationships
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

Desirable

  • Experience in gravity and gold leaching circuits
  • Plant start-up and commissioning experience
  • Cyanide destruction awareness
  • Plant metallurgist experience
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities
