About the role:
We are seeking experienced Wharf Attendants and Testing Officers to provide Terminal and Jetty Manning Services (Fuel, Oil and Chemicals Tankers) in Melbourne, Geelong and Hobart.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manning of the Wharf or Jetty, you are responsible for safe monitoring of ship discharges and pipeline transfers of petroleum and chemical products.
Specific Responsibilities:
Physically connection of the hoses to the wharf line and connection to the vessel.
Monitor product quality control and report any issues to the Shore Officer.
Assist with the pigging and cleaning of Wharf Lines
Maintain continual communication with Shore Officer and Terminal via Radio, with any change in conditions
Maintain strong working knowledge and client procedures and standards.
Testing of products at the wharf, when required. Work in cooperation with client’s representatives to ensure safe discharge of all products.
Our Shipping and Bunkering Supervisor is based in Geelong and your services will be scheduled from this office.
The role includes:
Performing all functions as a Wharf Attendant safely and efficiently.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, while performing numerous tasks and wharf line monitoring in all weather conditions.
Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision.
Ability to make sound decisions and communicate directly with the terminal.
To conduct marine bunkers of fuels and oils.
Perform terminal operations support such as Fire Watch and Confined Space Watchman
The successful applicant will have the following:
Petrochemical industry experience essential
Must have working knowledge of oil terminals and storage facilities.
Must have a valid Australian Driver’s License and be a MISC holder.
Must be an Australian citizen or demonstrate the right to live and work in Australia
Working outdoors during adverse weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, etc.,)
Must be able to climb vessel gangways, stairs, ladders, etc.
Must have flexible schedule as position will include evenings, weekend and holidays, based on customer need.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to make sound suggestions or recommendations.
