About the opportunity

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Area Maintenance Planner to work within an Operating Centre at Alcoa’s Pinjarra Refinery.

In this complex role, you will ensure maintenance strategies support the Operating Centre in preventative, predictive and planned maintenance. 

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

•           Co-ordination of maintenance activities through optimisation of resources – human, material and financial

•           Driving continuous improvement throughout the refinery and operation centre

•           Ensuring Tradespersons tool time is maximised

•           Providing leadership to other planners within the department

•           Planning, scheduling and aligning major outages and provide cost leadership for all maintenance

You will demonstrate commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment and be team orientated with leadership skills.  Your motivation along with strong communication and organisational skills, have been instrumental in your achievements.

About you

Our values – act with integrity, operate with excellence, care for people – are at the foundation of everything we do. To be successful in this role and to play a part in our ongoing success you will have:

Extensive maintenance engineering/planning experience, with a strong focus on shutdown planning in mining or heavy industry. 

Alternatively, you may have a Trade Certificate with solid experience in the electrical/instrument or mechanical fields, or a degree, with relevant industry work experience.  In addition, you will have and be proficient in a wide range of PC software, including Oracle maintenance management systems.

About where you will work 

Pinjarra Alumina Refinery is located 90 kilometres south of Perth, a 30-minute drive from the coastal city of Mandurah and six kilometres, or a 10 minute drive, east of the regional town of Pinjarra. It is situated in the Peel region of Western Australia, within the Shire of Murray and is a major regional employer with approximately 1000 employees.
