Looking to join a dynamic and motivated team, Ashton Coal Operations Pty Ltd operates the Ashton underground coal mine, located 14kms west of Singleton in the Hunter Valley region of NSW and is owned by Yancoal.

We are seeking an experienced Ventilation Officer who is excited to be responsible for the day to day effectiveness of the ventilation arrangements at the Ashton Coal Mine.

The role

This role will see an experienced Ventilation Officer join our team at Ashton on a fixed-term contract.

The successful applicant will be an experienced and motivated Ventilation Officer, excited to be responsible for the day to day effectiveness of the ventilation arrangements at Ashton Coal Mine.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Ventilation Officer will provide technical support to the operation with regards to ventilation in areas of mine planning, gas drainage, mine scheduling, operational systems and procedures, process improvement and contract management.

Experience & Qualifications

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Ventilation Officer Certificate mandatory
• Degree or diploma in Mining Engineering, desirable
• Current practicing certificate that authorises the exercise of the statutory function.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Ventilation Officer or similar role
• Sound knowledge of underground mining processes including practical knowledge of ventilation methods
• SAP experience desirable
• Highly developed communication skills
• Superior problem solving skills and decision making skills
• Sound knowledge in Coal Mining Work Health & Safety legislation.
