Residential Role

We currently have a vacancy within the Technical Services Department for a Process Engineer. The successful candidate will be required to work safely in a mining environment on a Monday to Friday roster. This position is residential and relocation assistance provided for the successful applicant to move to a relaxed and laid back lifestyle living on the cooler coast.  Company housing is supplied rent free with generous company allowances to cover most general domestic services. Private health cover is also offered to employees and their family.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will be required to ensure that brine, salt supply and quality are meeting production requirements in a manner consistent with OSPL policies and procedures with a can do attitude.

DUTIES

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensure compliance and adherence to all Onslow Salt analytical techniques & procedures
  • Ensure that all statutory and company standards related to health and safety, environmental and the Mines Safety & Inspection act and Regulations and the Maritime Security Act are adhered to
  • Endorse and support management of Onslow Salt’s Policies and Procedures
  • Monitor, review and provide technical expertise for laboratory and process improvements ensuring effective operations are carried out in a safe manner
  • Evaluation of Washplant, field operations, analytical and sampling practices
  • Produce concise daily, weekly and monthly technical reports, capacity to generate and read flowcharts, P&ID diagrams, and mass balances.
  • Liaise closely with immediate supervisor and production personnel regarding quality control, planning and scheduling
  • Develop and carry out effective training programs for all Washplant and Pond operators.
  • Manage and further develop the fully integrated site production/ laboratory database
  • Assist in the supervision of the Technical Services Department
  • Some Environmental Reporting
  • Reviews research, testing quality control and other operational reports to ensure that quality standards, efficiency and schedules are met
  • Running Metallurgical test works.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or related discipline
  • Current Western Australian 'C' manual drivers licence; HR would be advantageous
  • Experience in a similar role and environment
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office software (particularly Excel and Access)
  • Be able to pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening, obtain a National Police Clearance and be able to obtain and retain a Maritime Security Identification Card
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 system
