QGC is one of Australia's leading natural gas producers, focused on developing Queensland's world-class onshore gas reserves. We will supply more than 75 petajoules of gas to Australian customers in 2017, representing more than 10% of east coast gas demand and 40% of Queensland demand. QGC has supplied the domestic market since 2006 and international customers since 2014.
QGC produces natural gas from wells drilled into coal seams in the Surat Basin. Our operations include more than 2,600 production wells, 24 field compression stations, six central processing plants, two water treatment plants and a two-train LNG export facility on Curtis Island. Shell is the operator and majority interest holder in the QGC venture.
QGC supports the long-term economic sustainability of the regions in which we operate, we are proud of the contribution we make to regional economies, providing jobs, business opportunities and community investment. Job Description The Field Environment Superintendent is a key role in our business, providing field environmental management and strategic direction in accordance with legislative and QGC requirements across the upstream asset.  
 
The key components of this role are:

  • Provide leadership to and management of a team of Environmental Specialists,
  • Develop strategy and set the direction for upstream and broader QGC environment function
  • Drive, develop, implement, imbed, assure and improve QGC's ISO14001 certified Environmental Management System
  • Identify risk and communicates to relevant management throughout the business
  • Undertake strategic business planning of field environment resources to ensure efficient delivery of services, through identification of priority issues
  • Optimise implementation of environmental improvement programs to meet business objectives, balancing regulatory requirements, corporate policy direction, immediate business objectives and budget constraints
  • Brief senior management and direct and functional reports on key business issues, environment and relevant land priorities, risk mitigation and improvement programs
  • Provide high level environmental incident analysis
  • Provision of advice to Security and Emergency Management on environmental emergency preparedness and response
  • Provide technical advice to close out environmentally related landholder grievances
  • Add value to the business through redesign or streamlining of processes, coordination and communication

The candidate we are therefore seeking for this position, will have Tertiary qualifications specifically within the environmental discipline, experience and technical skills on environmental management and a working knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation, policies, standards and practices (both federal and state legislation) and how they are applied in the workplace
Crucial to the success of this role is the ability to manage direct reports, having a solid background in dealing with regulators on environmental performance and the ability to review and provide strategic direction on environmental documents and quality assurance.
If you have skills in negotiation, stakeholder management, communication, problem solving and influencing and can partner this with a degree qualification and oil and gas experience we would love to hear from you.
