We are seeking a Ventilation Technician /Engineer to join our Mining Technical Services team at EMR Golden Grove.  This role is to monitor the underground environment to ensure that workings are being adequately ventilated in accordance to the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations.  The ventilation engineer is part of the Mines Technical Services team and is consulted for ventilation requirements in the design and planning phase. This is a permanent position, offered on a 9 days on, 5 days off roster.  The mine site is located in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia and is a short 1 hour flight from either Perth or Geraldton.

The successful candidate will be able to:

• Conduct regular secondary ventilation surveys and record close out of defects
• Conduct quarterly primary ventilation surveys
• Operate, calibrate and maintain instrumentation
• Undertake gas testing as required
• Record wet and dry bub temperatures
• Issue mine clearing instructions for production firings
• Design of secondary Ventilation systems including fan placement, duct size and duct management
• Maintain the sites VentSIM model and conduct simulations to assist long term planning
• Quarterly updates of Emergency plans including vent readings from primary report
• Assist in justification of Ventilation upgrade projects
• Assist in co-ordinating and supervising ventilation upgrade projects
• Upkeep of the mines Ventilation Record book
• Maintain CONTAM sampling records and assist in the investigation of exceedances
• Updating and distributing emergency escape way and refuge chamber location cards

What we are looking for:

• 2 + years demonstrated experience in Underground Mining
• Tertiary qualified Mine Engineer
• Current “C” Class Drivers Licence
• Dangerous Goods Security Clearance
• Obtain a clear National Police Clearance
• Proficient in MS Office software
• Ability to interact well in a team, and adherence to following procedures
• Problem solving: being able to find solutions to issues and improvements in a controlled change process to ensure safety and mitigate process losses
• Sound understanding of underground mining practices, in particular longhole stoping
• Sound knowledge of ventilation systems and instruments
