Our client is an ASX 200 listed gold mining company with annual production of over 300,000 ozpa.  This is a newly created position to develop their underground operations while working with the team of Surveyors in the open pit to mentor and expose them to underground procedures and systems.  

This role reports to the Senior Mine Surveyor, your main areas of responsibilities will include:

  • To ensure adequate survey control, support and timely set out, pick up and measurement of the mining design and execution of programmed work in both open pit and underground operations.
  • To manage the data and calculation enabling the timely accurate and smooth monitoring, tracking and reporting of all earth moved (ore, waste, low grade stocks, tonnes, grade to ROM pad, etc)
  • To respond promptly to the day to day requirements of the underground mining team, and safely delivering the services required
  • EOM surveys for development and volume calculations
  • Incident and environmental surveys
  • Maintain survey equipment and stock
  • Maintain UG Emergency, escapeway and ventilation plans
Assisting with the Open Pit Mine Surveying responsibilities which will include:
  • Pit design related work including berms, ramps, pit crests and ore mark outs.
  • General site set outs and surveys as required including roads, buried services, waste dumps and clearing limits.
  • Wall control and toe checks.
  • Training of open pit surveyors in underground systems.
  • Operate and maintain prism monitoring system T4D.
Skills and Experience:
  • Formal qualification in Surveying and Grade 1 Certification is essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of Mines Regulations, OH&S and Duty of Care
  • It is essential that you hold 2+ years in an underground environment
  • Valid C Class Driver's License
  • Competent with Leica survey equipment and in the use of Surpac software
