Overview

We are seeking an experienced manager to lead the development of underground panel caves (PC1-2 and PC2-3) at our Cadia East mine, near Orange in New South Wales. This person will hold overall accountability for the project, and will ensure that development milestones are achieved safely and within approved budgets.

Reporting directly to the General Manager – Cadia Valley Operations your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing panel cave development works within set time frames and approved budgets;
  • Leading both Newcrest personnel and contractors to ensure development objectives / specifications are met;
  • Regularly reviewing project performance against the plan, and taking corrective actions as required;
  • Identifying and assessing capital improvements to make recommendations for capital expenditure;
  • Ensuring appropriate health and safety systems are implemented, and that all personnel comply with the Safety Management Plan; and
  • Holding responsibility for the performance and development of the personnel under your supervision, including training, mentoring, and coaching.

This is a permanent position that is based in Orange, New South Wales. The successful applicant will be required to relocate to the local area.

About You

Our ideal candidate will be a tertiary qualified mining engineer with significant industry experience, including extensive knowledge of mine development techniques.  

Other requirements include:

  • A strong management / leadership background, including safety management; and
  • Extensive underground mining experience with ideally some exposure to block caving.
