About the role
We are looking for a Health& Safety Advisor to provide health and safety advice and support to the Hail Creek leadership team. The successful candidate is expected to participate in developing and maintaining OH&S systems, leading and coaching teams in OH&S initiatives and participating in the sites risk management systems and strategies.
This role is a great opportunity for an individual who can develop, implement and maintain health and safety systems across Hail Creek Mine. Working Day Shift, Monday - Friday, 9 day fortnight and reporting to the Specialist Health & Safety, you will:
- Have a solid understanding of Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation
- Assist leaders in the field maintain impeccable safety standards
- Show commitment to preventing injuries, minimising damage to the environment and property and avoiding interruption to the business
- Build health and safety capability within the mine, including an understanding of Health and Safety Management systems
- Facilitate formal incident investigations and develop associated reports
- Facilitate formal risk assessments
- Coach line leaders in incident and action management
- Coordinate and assist with health and Hygiene monitoring programs
- Prepare and plan for HSE audits
- Analyse H&S data for internal reporting and statutory compliance
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you should have:
- A relevant degree in OH&S, Health Science, or Engineering
- Previous work experience in an OH&S Advisor Role, preferably in Mining, Construction or Heavy Industry
- Experience with Emergency Response Team management is desirable
- Experience with injury management and worker’s compensation insurance is desired
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Certificate IV Workplace Trainer and Assessor qualification
