NULLAGINE GOLD OPERATIONS

Millennium Minerals Limited, an ASX listed company is a recognised rising star of the Australian Gold Industry with a proven discovery track record, and a substantial gold resource base. Located in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our flagship Nullagine Gold Project commenced production in September 2012. We have an annual production of of over 75,000 ounces of Gold. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from high level experienced and QM qualified Mine Superintendents to join our expanding team.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Mine Superintendent to assist in leading the Open pit mining team. As a key member of the Site leadership team and reporting to the Mining Manager – Nullagine Gold Operations you will be working on a FIFO Roster 8:6 from Perth to site.

The position is responsible for assisting in the management of the open pit drill and blast, mining operations, haulage and mine engineering activities at the Nullagine Gold Operation. Coming from a mining contractor background, you will operate the site safely and efficiently, focusing on quantity, quality and quantitive analysis. The position will lead and direct under the guidance of the Mining Manager  to facilitate the efficient, effective and safe operations of:

  • Short / medium / long term mine planning, drill and blast, production and haulage activities;
  • Contract management;
  • Orebody management and reconciliation; and
  • All infrastructures associated with ongoing mining operations including workshops, explosives storage, roads and water.

The key purpose is to optimise mining activities and cost efficiency to meet forecast production and financial targets, through delivery of a performance and people based culture and system whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental management. 

Some of your key responsibilities in the position will include but are not limited to:

  • Actively fulfil the role of Alternate or Deputy Quarry Manager for all mining activities.
  • Manage all open pit mine operations including;
    • Drilling, blasting, loading and ore haulage
    • Major mine service contractors
  • Determine key production and cost drivers, develop and manage a system to track these drivers.
  • Develop and implement quality control and continuous improvement systems.
  • Work closely with the Mine Geology team to ensure controls are in place to maximise efficient resource extraction and EOM reconciliation processes to be completed.
  • Assist in mine planning and budgeting for mining activities.
  • Evaluate and optimise all new and existing resources. Develop working and effective pit designs. Integrate into the life of mine schedule.

The Person

You will be able to prove a demonstrated and established track record in a senior site management position in an open pit and underground gold mining environment. A current and valid WA Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency is essential, a Restricted WA Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency would also be considered.

In addition to this, you MUST possess the below:

  • Quarry Managers ticket.
  • A minimum of 7+ years’ experience in a mining and production environment with a focus on small to medium scale projects. (Open Pit is ESSENTIAL)
  • Established track record in a site management position
  • Previous work history as a mining contractor
  • Minimum 4+yrs experience in narrow vein, Gold open pit mining,
  • Proven ability to meet production targets whilst focusing on operational efficiencies, productivity and cost effectiveness.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience demonstrated by high levels of employee engagement, development and retention.
  • A track record of mentoring, coaching and development team members is essential.
  • Outstanding communication skills is essential
  • High degree of computer literacy is essential
  • Strong commercial acumen is essential; and
  • Strong financial and project management skills is essential.
