Process Engineer – Cloudbreak, FIFO 8/6

Fortescue Metals Group is seeking a Process Engineer at Cloudbreak that embodies the Fortescue Values on a daily basis. Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer, this role is responsible to optimise the Ore Processing Facility upgrade and production performance metallurgically.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Development and delivery of safety projects to achieve zero harm
  • Ensuring adherence to policy framework for HSEC standards and procedures;
  • Ensure compliance to the FMG standards and statutory obligations
  • Delivery of daily and weekly reporting duties in a timely manner
  • Identifying and driving metallurgical improvement projects to optimise upgrade and production performance
  • Developing and driving regular and adhoc plant sampling exercise
  • Provide metallurgical support across multiple departments in FMG. This includes being accountable for onsite and offsite process improvement test-work programs
  • Provide commissioning and ramp-up support to operations (both existing and brownfield/greenfield expansions) to ensure they meet business requirements in terms of production throughput, metallurgical recovery and cost optimisation
  • Developing maintenance strategy for metallurgy equipment

    Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelors degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a process engineer with process plant experience (iron ore preferable)
  • A high commitment to safety and strive to achieve zero harm
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and SAP
  • Exposure to mass balancing, including process modelling software desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • An understanding of both production and maintenance strategies for large scale processing plants
  • Basic statistical analysis
